Long Beach, WA - Part 2

This was Brynn's first trip to the beach. (click on any picture for larger view)

She loved it!

Such a happy easy going pup. She settled into the change of our routine well. She continually impresses me. Her recall is spot on perfect. I blow their recall whistle, and whoosh, she turns on a dime and runs back to us in a flash.

She oozes puppy joy. Spreading happiness and smiles.

She loved running in the water and chasing sea birds, and of course the ball.

Brynn can almost out run Beth.

She is giving Beth fits when she gets the ball first.

Beth is very polite when she does.

She just waits for Brynn to drop the ball at our feet..

then Beth swoops in and grabs it and we have to play Beth's passive/aggressive ball controlling game. She drops the ball, waits for you to reach for it, then snatches it up and won't let it go.

Brynn gets the ball more than Ranger now too. Poor Ranger.

That is okay, Ranger fills in the time by posing for the camera.

Or by barking at the ball. We think he is trying to scare the ball into moving on its own.

I love to see Brynn running across the sand with the ball in her chops. I know she will bring it back to us each and every time.

Oddly enough Bonnie doesn't try to take chunks out of Brynn.

...like she does to Ranger and Beth.

Bonnie's objective is to bring back all who run away. She succeeds every time. Good girl.

It has been fascinating to watch the changes in our pack as Brynn matures.

I am not sure who will be 'alpha' dog. Right now it is Beth (when mom is gone). But Beth is not comfortable in that roll. I believe it will be Brynn when she is fully grown. They all seem to be settling into this role shift well.

Brynn is determined to get that ball regardless of where it goes. Braving waves crashing into her head ...

She watches the ball and concentrates on where it lands. Beth, on the other hand, just runs ahead and tries to anticipate where the ball will land. Just to be mean, we throw it in the opposite direction. Brynn has figured this out and waits to see where the ball goes when it is released from the chuck-it.

She is starting to catch it in mid air too.

Sometimes not...

...and gets a face full of sand and salt water.

She is also a premium moocher. John is always complaining about indulging the dogs. "You are going to teach them bad manners" he says.

Who can resist this sweet little face?

Apparently John can't.

Brynn has combined her furniture scaling skills with begging. When we were eating she would climb up on the back of the couch and focus her starving, neglected eyeball peepers on John. He is an easy target.

Behold, the creation of a monster and evolution of a hypocrite.

We are in so much trouble...

WE love the photos of Brynn and John. The same thing happens at our house. Brynn is growing so tall - or so it appears in your photos. It's very interesting that the dynamic of the pack is shifting. We are keeping an eye on that for future reference in our own castle! Glad you had a good time and glad you are back (and you even survived the kids!)
