Heat Happiness

The weather has been oppressively hot. Today in Orting it topped out at 96 degrees. We north westerners melt when it gets this hot. I walked outside this morning, took a nice deep breath and suddenly was transported back to the years I spent in Fayetteville, NC. I called that particular phenomenon "Sauna Lungs". You know, when you inhale and suddenly it feels like you are drowning in hot wet air. Ugh. I hate it.

The dogs are less than thrilled either. Poor Beth has been going through sheep withdrawal. It is too hot to herd. So we did the next best thing.

SPRINKLER TIME! YEAH!

Beth loves the sprinkler

Or hates it...we haven't figured it out yet.

Is she trying to kill the water?

Or just catch the water?

This is the dog who takes it as a personal insult if you throw the ball in the river and would rather let it float to Puget Sound rather than get wet past her knees.

At first Brynn was perplexed by the sprinkler

She watched and studied it. Oblivious to Beth...or so it seemed

Then she started to stalk it

Then WHAMMO! Another Sprinkler Freak is born.

Beth was sharing her tips and tactics for sprinkler herding success

Showed her all the moves

Sneak attacks

Bold in your face jumps

Heaven in the back yard

Happy wet Border Collies

Eventually Brynn grew weary of chasing water. Possibly showing she is the smarter one in the bunch.

She was content to sit back and let Beth and Bonnie corral the pesky stream.

Round and round they go...where they stop nobody knows!

Uhhhnn...Mom? I think Bonnie is mad at Beth... are you seeing this?

Bonnie is making bitey faces at Beth!

"That's okay Punkin" I told her "Bonnie is just trying to herd Beth"

Hiya Ranger! Whatcha doin' with your Jolly Ball?

Staying dry & hanging out with Mom and my favorite toy

I am not sharing my Jolly Ball

Mom, please make her go away

Beat it! It is MY ball!

Gawd Ranger is NO FUN. Mom make him go back to the planet he came from.

I am surrounded by grumpy idiots.

Mom....I think I am tired.

Ahhhh naptime!

PS Mom has lost 14.5 pounds at her weigh in this morning. WOOHOO!

What can I say, love the pix. All of the dogs look like they like the hot day as long as it brings mom out to cool them down.

Congrats on your weight loss.

We have 7 more of those super high drive extra smart pups to place now.

Love the photos! We feel the heat, too, when it rolls in. It's supposed to be in the 80's tomorrow, which is nowhere near as bad as 96.. but it still robs us of our fun outside. My dog HATES the heat.

Cute crew you've got.. I especially like Ranger.

Pepper ignores our sprinkler, but when I use the hose to water the plants, she goes all protective! LOL!
