Quick Post - Rocky Ewe Trial

Today made me smile.  VERY BIG!

This morning I ran Brynn in her first Pro Novice class at the Rocky Ewe trial in Roy.  The pro novice course had the same outrun as Open.  350 yard outrun, maltese cross behind the pen to begin an approx 150 yard drive away & cross drive, to a pen.  Brynn had a little problem on her outrun (which we can fix with time and miles).  Her lift was beautiful even if it was about 50 yards away from where it should have been.  She brought me the sheep through the fetch panels.  We completed the maltese cross in decent fashion & moved on to the drive.  The drive had some bobbles, we missed our first & second set of panels just barely, then penned to wrap it up.

Brynn tried her heart out.  I didnt scream once.  I used my whistle through most of the run & Brynn did a good job listening.  I am so proud of her I am about to burst.

The course was so advanced that only 11 dogs came away with scores, the rest of the class of 26 either retired or DQ'ed.   Brynn was one of the 11 with a score and managed to walk away with 7th place in her first pro novice class.  WOOHOOO!

To say I am proud of her would be a major understatement!

I love that dog.

In the spirit of saving the best for last....Beth kicked some butt today too!

She took first in Ranch!  After a perfect outrun, lift and one bobble on the fetch, she brought the sheep through the fetch panels.  We had some difficulty with the maltese cross, then onto the driveaway which was dead on perfectly straight (approx 100 yards) through the panels, the cross drive was a pull through the fetch panels, which we missed- we were offline on the way to the pen, but the sheep went right in.  She ended up with the high score and we won Ranch!

I love this dog too.

The difference in her is amazing.   It is remarkable what clear, concise corrections and soft commands can do for a dog.  Finally things click and they understand what you are asking from them.  Makes working them happy & dare I say joyful?

I love all my dogs, but today Beth and Brynn especially.  Tonight they both sleep on the bed.
