Last night we shuffled into the house after mucho car time. My butt felt like a waffle iron. My husband says it looked like a waffle iron too. He should die a long and painful death, don't you think?
Moving on...
Bonnie was exhausted. I was exhausted and wore all my mascara off my face before we reached Hermiston. Did you know that water proof mascara isn't resistant to tears?
I wasn't really crying... nah...I was sobbing like a two year old. I held it together until I talked to Vicki on the phone. I had proudly stated to Vicki "I am not crying". Then got off the phone and the dam let loose. It was pathetic. I would mention that I ate an entire bag of Cheetos too - but that would be gross. Imagine that, a woman driving through the Blue Mountains, car loaded up with puppies (transporting for BC rescue), one tired Bonnie, sobbing... all the while shoving Cheetos Puffs in her face. Just past La Grande, Oregon I realized I was out of anything to drink. I am ashamed to admit this...I was forced to drink from the dog water jug *shuudder*. Today I couldn't get my wedding ring on, my eyes are swollen darn near shut and I am worried I may have given my self some weird dog-water borne disease.
Why was I such a disgusting mess?
I left Brynn with Dianne Deal for training. Patrick and Dianne decided that Brynn is ready for the pressure of training.
I have one question...am I?
Ugh...even typing this makes me want to throw myself down on the floor, kicking and screaming. Not really, but almost. *insert pathetic self pitying sigh here*
I miss her. I miss her little way of walking with me to every room, looking up at me with this goofy look on her face that says "I am with you...right here...what next?". Every border collie owner out there knows the 'look' I am talkin' bout.
So before I tell you all about the BEST CLINIC EVER I will share this video I shot of Patrick working with Brynn a bit.
Sorry about the crappy videography - When Brynn ran at me to check in - the camera went up to the ceiling and I am too tired to edit it out.
Doesn't she look awesome?
Already this morning Dianne sent me a quick update - Brynn is settling in and adjusting. Oh gawd....I am crying again.

Ok ... you have a video function on your camera!?!?! Now I am REALLY jealous! Nice quality to the video also. Brynn looks great! She will do wonderfully with Dianne, I'm sure. And heck, if you miss her that much, maybe you'll just have to come back to Idaho on the 3rd for Dianne's clinic! hahahaha
Jodi- yep, the video function is what made me choose the 7D over the 50D. Just think of the potential Karaoke material you could amass with the video function on my camera.
I am coming back to Idaho for the trial in Feb & to see Brynn of course! I was soooo tempted to come back on the 3rd. You will just have to organize another clinic for Dianne in the spring! She is such a gifted instructor I would sign up in a heart beat!
Haha, both of you! Planning to come for the trial at the end of Feb, but don't think I can do that and Dianne's clinic. . .to be determined later in the week.
I notice in Brynn's video, Patrick doesn't do nearly as much "hey"-ing as he does in Jane's!
My pushy little dog! Wonder if we can hold it together for a Novice trial!
Always love to see a dog do the work it was bred to do. Totally respect you letting go for "training camp." I would be a mess, too.
Big tears flowing down my face while reading this :( She looked great in the video. I must admit I loved the part where she ran to you with that happy face "How am I doin' Mom? This is FUN!"
Dyan
she looks awesome...
oh, and I'd be crying too
she looks like a big girl all grown up :) she is in good hands there obviously!
She'll be fine :) I'll send you photos whenever I go out there for a lesson, I promise!
Wow, the video function on your camera looks fabulous! I love that you can hear me taking pictures right next to you. LOL.
Brynn's lookin' good! It was good to see you at dinner. I will probably stop by the trial in Feb but won't be running. Do you know when you are taking her back home? We're having an AHBA trial in April...good way to kill two birds with one stone! :-)
Ann - I am jealous you are going for the clinic. My lesson with Dianne on Monday was fantastic! We had Bonnie walking, darn near creeping behind the sheep in a straight line - barely pushing on me. I wasnt running backwards to compensate! Can you believe it? WOOHOO! (more on that later).
I am going to go out there for the trial - to see Brynn of course and if Beth's leg is healing (not requiring surgery) maybe I will run her in Novice (doubtful). I would LOVE to see you and Jane run! I can get MUCH better pictures outside! LOL
Thundering Herd - Thank you...I guess this is how parents used to feel when they sent their kids to summer camp each year. If they liked their kids mind you - my kids on the other hand - I jumped for joy when ever they left. *sigh*
Ellie - You are wonderful, pictures would mean the world to me. Even a snap shot of her in her crate would be brilliant.
Jaenne - I wish we could have talked more at dinner & I would have remembered to pack the canned goods I put to the side for you (and Jodi). I will have to bring them next month when I come - I hope to see you there! I need to pick your brain some more about raw food.
Sorry we did not get to meet yesterday, It looks though like Sampson will be coming after all.
Wish I could have been there to give you a hug. When Wayde started Kindergarden, I was exactly the same way.
I am not that up on herding in trials but the thing that impressed me is that Brynn seems to keep pace with Patrick and that is important in farm herding. The only thing more important to her than the sheep was you.
GO BRYNN!!!!!
The Video looks good to me !
Wizz :-)
I think my Bandit might be a Border Collie mix, I'm not sure. But I am sure that if I had to leave him behind I would be sobbing too!
Oh, and I'll be at the Feb trial... for me n' Mossy's trial debut in N/N! O.o
Sorry your heartstrings are being plucked. Perhaps another dog is in your future?
I love waffles. Just saying... ;)
This is so cool to see Brynn work the sheep. We have one of her littermates Tawna (now named Islay) and she's just starting herding lessons with Nancy at Brigands!
wow she looks so good. I have no idea what she's doing, but she looks wonderful doing it. I love when she comes over to you. lacey sleeps on the chair next to me as I type this. How I wish I could leave her somewhere to do such fun things. although I'm sure I would die without her.
